During a ceremony Thursday afternoon on the lawn of Unicoi County Hospital, six students from Unicoi County Middle School put the finishing touches on a time capsule that will sit undisturbed in the lobby of the hospital for the next 25 years.
On a mission to help Unicoi County Hospital become the first hospital in the nation to be designated a storytelling center of excellence, the hospital’s Junior Board of Directors is collecting favorite stories and photos of life in the county to place in a time capsule.
UCH Administrator Eric Carroll said Monday he was “very excited” about the storytelling partnership. He said the program will be aided by a newly-created junior board of advisors at UCH comprised of six Unicoi County Middle School students. He said the board will meet once a month to help the hospital better communicate with residents in the region.
