With goals coming from six different players, Science Hill whipped Tennessee High 7-0 in Tuesday evening’s District 1-AAA girls soccer matchup at Kermit Tipton Stadium.

The Lady Hilltoppers improved to 8-3-1 while the Lady Vikings fall to 3-3-1.

The offense started clicking early for Science Hill and that was bad news for Tennessee High.

“They shared the ball really well tonight. I thought the movement off the ball was good. We were just sharp,” Science Hill head coach David Strickland said. “The ball moved fast and it was crisp. There were a lot of people making runs beyond the back four and we created problems for them. I thought our wide players played really well. They create a lot of those opportunities by getting in behind their back line.”

It didn’t take long for the Lady ’Toppers to start racking up the scoring as Savannah Fields scored in the fourth minute.

The next goal came courtesy of Tennessee High on an own goal that bounced of the cross bar and then off a Lady Vikings defender.

By midway through the first half, the familiar Strickland offense of working from the edges into the final third of the field and then to the middle was showing how many problems it can create.

Julia Luna scored in the 25th minute then Arianna Rodriguez (36’) and Clair Roundtree (39’) finished off the first half scoring for the Lady Hilltoppers. Science Hill had a comfortable 5-0 at halftime.

Two more goals came in the second half via Sydney Jordan and freshman forward Megan Burleson.

“(Megan) is very unselfish for a freshman and she’s actually been out for about three weeks,” Strickland said. “We finally got her healthy and it’s good to see her get back in it. She is very generous at times, but she could have pulled a couple of those back and took them. But I’m one the sideline and she’s on the field.”

Science Hill held a 26-2 shots advantage and 18 of them were on goal. Goalkeeper Miaka Miller kept a clean sheet for the match, not letting Tennessee High have any sort of look at the goal. The Lady ’Toppers also controlled the ball for close to 80% of the time.

Science Hill will host another District 1-AAA conference game on Wednesday, hosting David Crockett. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
