Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Greeneville woman Monday after finding more than 27 grams of methamphetamine in her car during a traffic stop, Sheriff Ed Graybeal said in a news release.

Christa N. Shelton, 35, 1009 Old Knoxville Hwy., was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Impala on Tenn. Highway 81S at Archer Road in the Lamar community southeast of Jonesborough when deputies stopped her on a speeding charge. Deputies learned she had a suspended drivers license for failure to pay court costs and fines.

The sheriff said deputies conducting an inventory of her car’s contents found 27.18 grams of methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia.

Shelton was charged with driving while in possession of meth, schedule II drug violations for resale, possessions of unlawful drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, driving while license is suspended and speeding. She was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on a $13,000 bond arraigned Tuesday in Sessions Court.
