A man was hit by a Norfolk Southern Railway train about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday on McKinley Road, near the intersection of Carter Sells Road, Washington County 911 confirmed to the Johnson City Press. 

The man, whose identity has not been released, was alert and conscious but complaining of lower back pain when emergency responders arrived. Witnesses who saw the man being treated also said he was moving his arms. 

A neighbor living next to the tracks said she was outside smoking a cigarette when she saw the man walking along the tracks. After going inside, the woman said she heard emergency sirens and walked outside to see the train stopped. 

The man was taken to Johnson City Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
