Volunteers wanted for Watauga Lake cleanup this Saturday

The event is a partnership with the Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful and the Keep Carter County Beautiful. Both are affiliates of Keep America Beautiful.

Participants should bring bottled water, work gloves, close-toed shoes, and pants. It is recommended to wear winter accessories.

The Watauga Lake Cleanup is the kickoff of the four-part Cherokee National Forest River Cleanup series, which includes four cleanups held during February, traveling from Watauga Lake to the Ocoee River.

Volunteers can enjoy a day on the lake and help the community at the same time. Volunteers will be transported by workboat to shorelines around the lake. Life jackets will be provided and must be worn when on the boat. Bring knee-high water boots if you have them. Dress appropriately.
