Mountain Commerce Bank reports Q1 earnings

An Erwin manufacturer will invest $5 million in an expansion project and bring 15 new jobs to the area, the Joint Economic Development Board of Unicoi County announced Friday.

Georgia-based Foam Products Corp., one of the world’s largest producers of acoustical underlayments for laminate and hardwood flooring, cited a favorable tax climate and the quality of life found in Unicoi County as key drivers of its decision to expand its facility on South Industrial Drive in the Riverview Industrial Park.

“Companies like Foam Products continue to invest in Unicoi County and Upper East Tennessee because of our prepared workforce and our quality-of-life advantages,” Joint Economic Development Board Executive Director Tyler Engle said in a press release. “We welcome this investment and look forward to our continued business friendship with the company.”

Foam Products says additions to its existing facility will be operational by the end of 2019.
