Christmas is the perfect time to think of others, and to give until it hurts. That’s why you should consider giving one of the wonderful animals at your local shelters a new home - and a new lease on life.

There are plenty to choose from, and so many who deserve love and happiness, and this week’s Pets of the Week highlight four of the fine examples you can find locally.

• Lacie is a fourteen-week-old, female Pitbull mix who loves people. She is string and beautiful, very active, and very much in need of a good owner who will allow her to learn and grow. She needs training and attention, but she needs a family even more. Come on down and pay her a visit!

• River loves people and attention, but also likes to lay back and enjoy time by herself. A black, five-month-old, spayed, female domestic short hair, she would be the perfect addition for any family or household.

• Mindy is an adult, spayed, female domestic short hair with a great personality and a beautiful coat. A brown and gray torbie, she may not be the best cat for kids or multi-pet households, but she loves people and loves to be held. If you’re a single person, or a couple without a child at home, she would be ideal.

• Diesel is a six-year-old, male, brown and white Husky mix who likes people, but really dislikes being on camera. Whenever I put the camera down, he showed his true personality and loving demeanor, but got very scared once I picked up the machine. He is still uneasy with is surroundings, and the best cure for that would be to remove him from them completely - adopt him and see for yourself!
