The 24th annual Umoja Festival was held at King Commons in downtown Johnson City Saturday evening, bringing many in the community together to celebrate the area's diversity and culture.

The event kicked off with a special remembrance ceremony for the 20th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, and featured comments from Johnson City Manager Pete Peterson, Police Chief Karl Turner, Interim Fire Chief David Bell and Washington County EMS Capt. Brandon Archer.

The Tribute of Remembrance was followed by live music and the traditional Calling of the Drums opening ceremony.
