KINGSPORT — A 26-year-old city man was charged with second-degree murder in the Monday morning shooting of a Big Stone Gap man outside a convenience store.

According to a press release from the Kingsport Police Department, Brandon Castle had been indicted by a Sullivan County grand jury in the death of 39-year-old Christopher Todd Lane.

The shooting took place shortly before 4:50 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of the Zoomerz at 1673 Fort Henry Drive. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Lane lying in the parking lot, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

The KPD said Castle was developed as a person of interest early in the investigation. Detectives said that soon after the shooting, they received information that Castle would be attempting to sell illegal drugs in the parking lot of the Rub-A-Dub car wash on Bloomingdale Pike.
