Bluff City man charged with 2 counts of attempted 2nd-degree murder

BLUFF CITY — A Bluff City man has been charged in a Tuesday evening shooting on Weaver Branch Road.

Darrell Richard Crawford Sr., 69, of 1201 Weaver Branch Road in Bluff City, was taken into custody at the scene Tuesday night and charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder, according to a Wednesday morning news release from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.

The victims, Richard Crawford, 43, and a 7-year-old, were riding a four-wheeler on the property at 1201 Weaver Branch Road when they were shot by Darrell Crawford Sr. with a shotgun. As reported last night, both victims were transported to a local medical facility for treatment of what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Richard Crawford is the son of Darrell Crawford Sr. Information regarding the identity of the juvenile victim was not released due to the child’s age. Our partners at the Kingsport Times News have more.
