Man killed in Wednesday crash on Mary Patton Highway

ELIZABETHTON — One man was killed in a Wednesday afternoon crash on the Mary Patton Highway, according to a preliminary report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The crash took place about 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Michael Rainbolt, 21, was killed in the accident.

According to investigating Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Jeremy Downes, Rainbolt had pulled his 1988 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck to the right shoulder of the highway (Tenn. Highway 362) in an apparent attempt to make a U-turn, and turned into the path of a 2016 Dodge Ram 250 pickup truck driven by Lindsey Winegar, 42, Bluff City.

Winegar was reported to be uninjured in the crash.
