Asleep in stolen SUV: Johnson City police arrested a man Monday after finding him asleep in a vehicle stolen during a burglary at a business near his home, according to a news release. Lonnie Cole, 48, 202 W. Fairview Ave., was charged with burglary and theft of property over $10,000. The burglary occurred at 214 E. Watauga Ave. Police said numerous items were stolen, including a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse owned by the business. The SUV was later found at 707 Wilson Ave. with Cole asleep inside. He was held in the Washington County Detention Center under $20,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Tuesday.
Sleeping car burglary: Police said a Johnson City woman was sleeping in a vehicle she did not own Monday and had burglarized a second vehicle at the same location. Ashley Maynor, 39, 1400 Rockgarden Road, was charged with two counts of burglary of motor vehicle, one count of theft under $1,000, one count of simple possession and one count of false reporting. About 8:30 a.m., police were called to 150 Lynn Road about a woman sleeping in a vehicle. After speaking with Maynor, police learned she did not own the vehicle and that she had entered another vehicle parked in the lot and removed property. Police also said Maynor have them a false name, and as she was arrested, the found a small baggie containing pieces of pills. She was held in the Detention Center under $8,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Wednesday.
