Police on Tuesday announced an arrest in the “white pride” vandalism case from a black-owned business in Gray.

Mahagany Teague, 42, no address available, was charged with vandalism under $1,000.

Police said Teague’s arrest resulted from vandalism at DC Fitness, 5034 Bobby Hicks Highway. They said Teague used a rock to carve “white pride” into the sidewalk.

She was held in the Washington County Detention Center under $1,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Wednesday.

On Monday, DC Fitness owner Derrick Carson said he returned to work Monday morning after a brief weekend getaway in Pigeon Forge and noticed the vandalism on the front sidewalk of his business. Carson told the Press he found the vandalism disheartening after the years of work he put into becoming a local business owner.
