ELIZABETHTON — The Elizabethton Police Department said the initial investigation of Tuesday afternoon’s two-vehicle accident on the Milligan Highway indicates that the driver of a 2001 Chrysler Sebring was at fault for crossing the center line and striking a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt.

The police have not yet released the identity of the drivers involved in the accident or their conditions.

Police said witnesses told officers the Sebring was being driven recklessly prior to the crash. Officers also said they saw open containers of alcohol in the Chrysler during their investigation.

Officers obtained a search warrant and collected a sample of the blood of the Chrysler’s driver.

The investigation continues and charges are pending against the driver of the Chrysler.
