5 hospitalized after Johnson County crash

BUTLER — Four adults and a 3-year-old child were taken to Johnson City hospitals Monday afternoon following a crash in Johnson County involving a tractor-trailer and two other vehicles, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report. Charges were pending.

About 1:15 p.m., a Nissan Titan pickup driven traveling east on Tenn. Highway 67 at Sawmill Lane when it crossed the center lane and struck a tractor-trailer and a Nissan Pathfinder SUV, both of which were westbound. A trooper reported the Titan struck the Pathfinder on the left side, sending those two vehicles off the right side of the road.

All occupants of the pickup and the SUV were injured.

From the Titan, driver Lori Thomas, 52, and passenger Magda Young, 74, both of Henderson, were taken to Johnson City Medical Center. A 3-year-old boy, whose name was not in the THP report, also of Henderson, was taken to Niswonger Children’s Hospital. 

From the Pathfinder, driver Drema Dawn Arnold, 42, Mountain City, and Jesse Emmitt Owens, 62, Laurel Bloomery, also were taken to JCMC.

The tractor-trailer driver, 62-year-old Jackie Johnson, Greeneville, was not injured.
