Carter Sheriff's Office says farewell to 30-year officer

ELIZABETHTON — Law enforcement officers and other friends gave Lt. Mike Fraley a joyful and good-natured farewell Thursday afternoon.

The lawman with the Carter County Sheriff’s Department is retiring after 30 years of service with the department. Officers from several departments dropped in to wish Fraley a happy retirement. First Judicial District Attorney General Ken Baldwin also congratulated Fraley.

Some of the attendees were members of Fraley’s family, including his father, retired Captain Bill Fraley of the Elizabethton Police Department and Fraley’s brother, Special Agent Brian Fraley of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Sheriff Dexter Lunceford and Chief Deputy James Parrish spoke warmly of their memories of the young Fraley and his achievements over the years. Lunceford said it wasn’t possible to replace Fraley.
