2 killed on I-26 in Gray

Two people were killed early Friday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 26 in Gray.

About 2 a.m., Johnson City police went to I-26 near the 300 block of Possum Hollow Road, where a vehicle had crashed down an embankment and into a wooded area.

Police said the vehicle had been traveling at high speed east on I-26 toward Johnson City just southeast of Exit 13 when it left the road on the right-hand side.

Two people were found inside the vehicle. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Police were awaiting notification of next of kin before releasing their names.

The Johnson City Police Department Traffic Reconstruction Team was conducting the investigation.
