ELIZABETHTON — Carter County deputies arrested a man on a drunken driving charge after he reportedly drove his car into a house.

Harley Dakota Barnett, 25, was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with driving under the influence and a violation of the open container law.

The charges were filed after deputies responded to a call on Nov. 23 on Old Bristol Highway where Barnett had reportedly driven his vehicle through a fence and into a house. Barnett admitted to deputies that he had been drinking. Deputies also saw an open container of beer in the vehicle.

Barnett was taken to the hospital from the scene due to severe injuries he suffered in the wreck. He was arrested in Carter County after having been released from the hospital. No one else was injured in the wreck.

Barnett was booked into the Carter County Detention Center and released on a $1,250 bond.
