KINGSPORT — The lockdown at Dobyns-Bennett High School has now been lifted, according to Andy True, assistant superintendent for Kingsport City Schools.

There is a strong police presence at the school, according to a press release from Tom Patton, public information officer for the Kingsport Police Department. This presence is out of an abundance of caution in light of a threatening note recently found on campus and in response to unconfirmed issues of concern that have been reported and which are currently under investigation.

“We do want to make you aware that Dobyns-Bennett has gone into a lockdown today while KPD investigates an unconfirmed report that caused concern to authorities,” True said in an email to parents. “KPD has let us know that we are now cleared to return to class, and we are beginning our process to restart operations at D-B.”
