Johnson City police arrested an Elizabethton man Tuesday during a traffic stop and found methamphetamine and marijuana in his possession, police said in a news release.

Bruce Williamson, 28, was stopped for having an improperly displayed license tag. Police said his license had been suspended, and several warrants were out for his arrest from multiple counties.

Searching his car, police found a backpack containing what they described as a large amount of methamphetamine, as well as a bag of marijuana.

Williamson was charged with possession of methamphetamine for resale, simple possession schedule VI drugs, driving on a suspended license, and improper display of a registration. He was held in the Washington County Detention Center under $12,000 bond awaiting a Session Court appearance set for Wednesday.
