Stolen AC unit: Police found two Jonesborough residents with a stolen air conditioning unit Saturday after their pickup was identified from video surveillance, according to a news release. Jerry Greer, 44, and Toshie Bowman, 45, both of 296 Brethren Church Drive, were each charged with theft over $2,500. On Friday, police took a report from Bailey’s Heating and Air, 3212 Hanover Road, regarding an overnight theft. The business provided video surveillance showing an older model white pickup leaving the parking lot with an AC unit. On Saturday, police found the truck parked at the intersection of East State of Franklin Road and Legion Street. Greer and Bowman were questioned a police headquarters and charged. Each was held in the Washington County Detention Center under $10,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Monday.
Asleep in stolen car: A Kingsport woman was sleeping in a stolen car with meth and other drugs at a Johnson City convenience store Sunday, police said. Holly B. Frye, 40, was in a Mercedes at the Roadrunner Market at 1908 E. Unaka Ave. The Mercedes had been reported stolen in Johnson City earlier in the day. Searching the vehicle, police found 3.2 grams of methamphetamine, three oxycodone pills, seven syringes, a pipe and a spoon used in drug preparation. Frye, 606 Countryshire Court, Kingsport, was charged Monday with possession of a stolen vehicle, felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and simple drug possession. She was held in the Washington County Detention Center under $20,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Tuesday.
Fleeing arrest: Watauga man fled a traffic stop in Johnson City early Monday morning and ran into a convenience store, where he was arrested, police said. Seth Blevins, 23, 288 Cripple Creek Loop, was charged with felony evading arrest, driving on a suspended license, and operating an unregistered vehicle. Police had tried to stop Blevins for driving an unregistered vehicle. Police said a witnesses at the store, along with video surveillance, identified Blevins as the driver. He was held in the Washington County Detention Center under $5,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Monday.
Stolen vehicle at motel: Police found a stolen vehicle parked at a Johnson City motel Saturday, resulting in a Kingsport woman’s arrest. Shania Orfield, 25, 1608 C St., was charged with possession of stolen property over $1,000 and criminal impersonation. About 9:15 p.m., police found a vehicle reported stolen in Kingsport at the Johnson Inn, 2700 W. Market St. The investigation led police to a room where Orfield was. They said she gave them false information, resulting in the criminal impersonation charge. She also had warrants out for her arrest in Sullivan County. Police said other evidence also tied Orfield to the stolen vehicle. She was held in the Washington County Detention Center under $6,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Monday.
