Johnson City police sought the public’s help for information about a possible shooting near a city elementary school just before school started Wednesday morning.

The alleged shooting was reported in the 1200 block of King Springs Road near Mountain View Elementary School about 7:30 a.m.

Police said in a news release they had searched the area for a victim, a possible crime scene and suspects. No physical evidence was found.

Canvassing the neighborhood, they took statements from people in area as well as the original complainant. Police said the statements were conflicting, but they had determined at least two vehicles were in the area at the time two loud noises — possibly gunshots — were heard.

Anyone with information regarding the alleged victim’s identity, any suspects or the situation was asked to contact the Johnson City Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 423-434-6166. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 434-6158. To send a confidential tip, text 423JCPD and the information to 847411 (TIP411) or log it at www.citizenobserver.com.
