About 7:45 a.m., police were called to the area of Cox Farm Court near Mountcastle Drive, where 911 callers reported that meters were being pulled off residences.
A BrightRidge representative, who had real-time information and location of power losses, met with police. Using that information, as well as witness statements, police said, they found 37-year-old Andrew Coleman walking through the area.
When police approached him, Coleman ran, but police quickly took him into custody. A total of 31 residences and three businesses were affected. BrightRidge soon restored power to all locations.
Coleman, 708 Rock City Road, Kingsport, was charged with 34 counts of vandalism and one count of evading arrest. He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center under $341,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Monday.
