UPDATE: Deputy shoots, kills man near Kingsport

UPDATE: KINGSPORT — A wanted man has been fatally shot by police after allegedly dragging a Sullivan County deputy with a vehicle.

The incident occurred shortly before 1:30 Monday afternoon in a residential area between Reservoir Road and South Wilcox Drive. According to Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Spokesperson Leslie Earhart, police received information that Terry Frost, 32, was at a residence on Pennsylvania Road.

According to the SCSO, Frost had six active warrants, including one for felony reckless endangerment. Earhart reports that when deputies approached the home, Frost was seen running from the residence and into an overgrown area.

A short time later, police spotted Frost about a half mile away on Diana Avenue. He was reportedly getting into an SUV driven by a female. According to Earhart, police approached the vehicle and ordered the female to exit. When she complied, Frost allegedly jumped from the back of the SUV and into the driver's seat.

The deputy also was injured. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

KINGSPORT — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been called to an officer-involved shooting in Sullivan County.

The incident occurred about 1:30 Monday afternoon on Diana Avenue, located between Reservoir Road and South Wilcox Drive.

TBI Spokesperson Leslie Earhart confirmed that a SCSO deputy shot the suspect. An investigation into what spurred the incident is just beginning, while injuries to the suspect or police have not been specified.
