Famed forensic scientist Dr. Bill Bass, known around the world for creating The Body Farm to understand how human decomposition occurs, will be in Kingsport later this month to help raise money for Bays Mountain Park.

“Dr. Bass is a forensic legend, and we are thrilled to host him at Bays Mountain Park,” said Mark Kilgore, program coordinator at Bays Mountain. “He is beloved in East Tennessee, and we are lucky to have him share his knowledge and experiences with our community.”

Bass, now 90, created The Body Farm on a small piece of land at the University of Tennessee. He was the frontrunner in the field of forensics for many years. He’s no longer in the classroom, but Bass continues to spread his knowledge through presentations about his work.

He has co-authored a dozen fiction novels and three non-fiction ones with writer Jon Jefferson under the name Jefferson Bass.

Bass will speak June 18 at Robinson Middle School at 6:30 p.m. His presentation is sponsored by Bays Mountain and Kingsport Idol. Tickets prior to the event are $25 and $30 the day of the event. Tickets are available through Eventbrite at http://bit.ly/2wvFKgo. For more information, call Mark Kilgore at 423-230-6357.
