Carter and Sullivan sheriff departments work together on fugitive roundup

ELIZABETHTON — In repeating the cooperative  measures the Carter County Sheriff’s Department has made in the past few months with other neighboring law enforcement agencies, the department joined with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office in a joint operation on Tuesday

Deputies from the two departments reported arresting 20 people on outstanding warrants.

The arrests were reportedly made on a variety of charges, from drug offenses to failures to appear in court. Deputies conducting the roundup focused on wanted persons in Sullivan County. According to Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford, serving misdemeanor warrants helps reduce property crime.

“These joint operations are important to driving down crime in the region,” Lunceford said. “We’ve seen a significant decrease in crime as our agency has prioritized arrest warrants, and we’re glad to be working with our neighboring agencies to recreate that success.”

In total, deputies served 13 warrants from Carter County, six from Sullivan County and one from Hawkins County.

Those arrested on Carter County warrants were:

• Joshua David Barnett, 34,  failure to appear on an original charge of driving on suspended license.

• Suzanne Nicole Blevins, 21, violation of probation on original charges of schedule II drug violations, simple possession, possession of schedule VI drugs.

• Vicki Lou Buck, 58, failure to appear on an original charge of assault.

• Madonna Ryleigh Carlson, 30, failure to appear.

• Karen Carrier, 63, failure to appear on an original charge of shoplifting.

• Crystal Leann Firmingham, 35, failure to appear on an original charge of violation of open container law.

• Lacey Nicole Houston, 29, failure to appear on an original charge of driving on suspended license.

• Alex M. Klaub, 24, violation of probation on original charges of assault and resisting arrest.

• Tabbatha Louise Markland, 29, violation of probation on original charges of possession of schedule IV drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Brian James Nidiffer, 47, failure to appear on an original charge of driving on a suspended license.

• Amber Michelle Phillips, 35, failure to appear on an original charge of shoplifting.

• Valerie Nicole Saylor-Gray, 36, violation of probation on original charges of evading arrest, driving on revoked license and failure to appear on an original charge of past due child support.

• Judy Ann White, 38, driving while suspended or revoked.
