Cocaine arrest after police chase: Johnson City police said they found a gun, cocaine and brass knuckles after a Memorial Day chase that began at a South Roan Street convenience market. About 7:15 p.m. Monday, police went to the Sunoco gas station, 1001 S. Roan St., after a caller advised a dispatcher that a man had pointed a gun at a woman in the parking lot. When they arrived, 20-year-old Gavin C. Muse took off, nearly striking police and bystanders, police said in a news release. Police quickly stopped Muse on nearby East Chestnut Street, where he was arrested without further trouble. Police said they retrieved a firearm and a backpack thrown from the vehicle. A search of the backpack revealed 4.4 grams of cocaine. They also found brass knuckles in Muse’s pocket. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, possessing a firearm during the commission/attempt to commit dangerous felony, evading arrest, manufacture/delivery/sale of a controlled substance, possession of a prohibited weapon, a red light violation, and two stop sign violations. Muse, 714 N. Barton St., was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center under $101,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Tuesday. Muse was arrested in August, as police said he fired shots on North Barton Street but missed his target.

John Sevier jumper: A Bristol man jumped from a third-floor window of the John Sevier Center in downtown Johnson City on Monday as he fled police, according to a news release. Police said Victor Beaver, 56, had been wandering the hallways and entering apartments. Police found him inside an apartment, and as they entered, he jumped out the window, landing on the first floor’s balcony roof. He was arrested and taken to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. He was charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, theft and evading arrest. After his release from JCMC, he was held in the Washington County Detention Center under $25,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Tuesday.

Apartment invasion: A Johnson City man forced his way into an apartment early Monday morning, resulting in his arrest, police said. Arthur Hawkins, 39, 4 Trivette Concourse, was charged with aggravated burglary, simple assault, resisting arrest, and public intoxication. About 2:15 a.m., police were called to the apartment and found Hawkins in the parking lot of the apartment complex near the scene of the burglary. He was wearing clothing described by the victims. Hawkins was held in the Washington County Detention Center under $22,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Tuesday.
