A woman treated at local hospital Tuesday night told Johnson City police her ex-boyfriend had assaulted her with a knife, resulting in his arrest early Wednesday.

Johnson City police charged Michael Burton, 36, 1412 Colony Park Drive, with aggravated assault and possession of a schedule V drug.

About 11:15 p.m., police spoke with the woman at Johnson Medical Center. They obtained a warrant for Burton’s arrest, and they found him at a homeless camp near West Market Street and North State of Franklin Road.

Police said a search of his property revealed a large prescription of Gabapentin pills that did not belong to him.

He was held at the Washington County Detention Center under $21,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for later Wednesday.
