ELIZABETHTON — An investigation by the Carter County Sheriff’s Department has led to the arrest of a man on juvenile rape charges.

Joshua Adam Hill Sr., 36, was arrested by Carter County deputies on Tuesday on two counts of aggravated rape, sexual battery by an authority figure, and other sex crimes.

The charges stem from a presentment to a Carter County grand jury on May 7.

The investigation of the charges began on April 1, when deputies responded to a call from Sycamore Shoals Hospital, according to Sheriff Dexter Lunceford.

“Based on evidence and statements from a juvenile victim, investigators obtained and executed a search warrant for Hill’s residence, where they recovered further evidence that corroborated the victim’s statement,” Lunceford said.

Hill was being held in the Carter County Detention Center on $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in the next session of Criminal Court.

Hill was previously arrested in 2018 on a charge of reckless endangerment, but the charge was dismissed, according to Thomas Gray, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Department.
