Police make arrest in connection with stolen vehicle
Johnson City police arrested Joshua Walker, 37, 174 Burbank Road, Tuesday, and charged him with theft of a motor vehicle after responding to a report about a stolen vehicle at Waffle House on Bristol Highway. The victim told police Walker had approached him and told him he knew where to find his car. When the police came, officers said they found Walker with the keys to the vehicle and then found the missing car at the parking lot of Food City nearby. Walker was held in the Washington County Detention Center and set to appear in Sessions Court Wednesday.
Police charge man with possession of meth and more
When Johnson City police responded to a report about a man passed out in a silver Nissan on Monday, officers discovered Joshua Maines, 34, Kingsport, who had a warrant out of Sullivan County. After the warrant was confirmed, police said they discovered Maines had methamphetamine and $593 in cash. Police then searched the vehicle and found a small amount of marijuana and a loaded syringe containing heroin. He was charged with possession of methamphetamine for resale, simple possession of schedule I drugs, simple possession of schedule VI drugs and unlawful drug paraphernalia. Maines was held in the Washington County Detention Center on $2,500 bond and set to appear in Sessions Court on Saturday.
Man charged with embezzlement after fraudulent returns at place of work
Johnson City police responded to JC Penney in the Mall at Johnson City on Tuesday after a report about an employee stealing items and processing fraudulent returns. During the investigation, police said, Denzel Medina, 19, 1032 Gray Station Road, admitted to the theft. The amount totaled $1,422.49. He was charged with embezzlement and held in the Washington County Detention Center on $5,000 bond. He was set to appear in Sessions Court on Wednesday.
Man arrested after running car off road
Johnson City police charged Hunter L. Marich, 213 Highland Ave, Tuesday, with felony reckless endangerment and other offenses after he ran a car off the road, police said in a news release. At 11:15 a.m., police saw a maroon Subaru driving 69 mph. in a 40 mph zone. Police stopped Marich’s vehicle and charged him with speeding, felony reckless endangerment, driving on a suspended license, and no insurance. Marich was held at the Washington County Detention Center under $2,000 bond. Arraignment was set for Wednesday in General Sessions Court.
Shoplifter provides fake Social Security Number.
Johnson City police charged April K. Peterson, 519 Joy Court, with shoplifting and identity theft. At 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, police went to Belk in the Johnson City Mall on reports of shoplifting. Peterson was identified as having stole two pair of earrings. When asked for identification, Peterson stated she did not have an I.D. card. Officers asked her to provide a Social Security Number, but she have them a card belonging to a man. Peterson was held at the Washington County Detention Center under $2,500 bond. Arraignment was set for Wednesday in Sessions Court.
