Johnson City police arrest man after he runs away from first responders

Johnson City police arrested a man on Wednesday after first responders arrived at McDonald’s, 1710 W. Market St. in response to a call about a man asleep in a car.

According to a news release from the Johnson City Police Department, Robert Blevins, 51, 237 Elmer Walker Road, attempted to run after responders noticed a firearm under his driver’s seat. After a short pursuit, Blevins was caught.

Officers discovered three firearms and various narcotics also in the vehicle, according to the release.

Police confirmed that Blevins is a convicted felon and he was charged with possession of a firearm, evading arrest, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession.

Blevins was being held at the Washington County Detention Center on $20,000 bond with his arraignment set for 1:30 p.m. on April 4.
