A city man was found with what police described as “a large amount of methamphetamine” during an investigation of a stolen car, Johnson City police said in a news release.

Dehee Quewea, 31, 902 N. Barton St., was charged with felony theft and possession of meth for resale after officers found a vehicle that had been reported stolen at the Barton Street adress.

Contact was made with the resident, who let officers inside, the release said. Quewea, who was inside the residence, was in possession of the keys to the car and a “small baggie containing methamphetamine” was found, police said.

The “large amount” of meth was found in a storage compartment of the vehicle, police said.

Quewea was taken to the Washington County Detention Center and held on $20,000 bond. His Sessions Court arraignment was set for Monday at 1:30 p.m.
