ELIZABETHTON — A second prisoner of the Carter County Jail has been arrested following a New Year’s Eve fight that caused another prisoner to suffer a broken jaw.

The latest prisoner to be arrested in the incident is Anthony Shane Holsclaw, 21, 105 Hatcher Lane. He was charged on Jan. 6. Another prisoner, Jimmy Gray, 36, Surgoinsville, has already been charged in the incident, which took place in C Mezzanine of the jail.

Deputies and jailers were able to view the assault by reviewing the jail’s security videotape, which they said showed Holsclaw and Gray attacking a prisoner identified as Robert Wolfenbarker, 33, Lenoir, N.C.

Officers said the cameras showed Wolfenbarker was trying to defend himself and get away from his attackers, but they continued to assault and chased after him. Officers said Wolfenbarker was thrown to the ground and several blows were delivered to his head.

After viewing the video, officers escorted Wolfenbarker to the medical section of the jail. Wolfenbarker told the nurse that his jaw was hurting. An X-ray was administered, which showed his jaw was fractured. Wolfenbarker was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Holsclaw was arraigned in Sessions Court on Monday. A public defender was appointed for him and he is scheduled to be back in court on Jan. 25.
