Johnson City police arrested a Kingsport woman Thursday for allegedly stealing from her former employer, a press release from the department said.

According the release, Hardee’s, 2702 N. Roan St., reported that deposit money was missing from its safe a month ago.

Police found that Ashley Taylor, 22, 1042 Old Blairs Gap Road, had been terminated from her employment at the restaurant, but still had had keys and codes to the safe, the release said. Police said evidence showed Taylor returned to the business after her termination and took the money.

Police arrested Taylor on Thursday and charged her with burglary and theft over $1,000. She was jailed at the Washington County Detention Center on $20,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon in General Sessions Court.
