Johnson City man faces armed robbery, drug charges

Johnson City police arrested a man Friday on charges that he robbed a woman at gunpoint and assaulted her with the weapon earlier this year.

Davian Smalls, 35, Johnson City, was charged with especially aggravated robbery. Police placed additional charges after finding drugs at the time of his arrest Friday, police said in a news release.

Police said the woman was robbed in May, and the robber struck her head several times with the handgun. Police said they identified Smalls during the investigation and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

As he was arrested Friday, police found him with crack cocaine, marijuana and various pills. He was additionally charged with possession of crack cocaine for resale, two counts of simple possession of schedule IV drugs, simple possession of schedule VI drugs, possession of drug paraphernaliadsf and maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are kept or sold.

Smalls was held Friday in the Washington County Detention Center on $74,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Monday.
