MORRISTOWN — Authorities say a man drowned in a Tennessee lake over the weekend.

Hamblen County Sheriff Esco Jarnagin tells news outlets in a statement that 62-year-old John Bible drowned Saturday night in Cherokee Lake. Deputies had been called out to the Cedar Hill Boat Dock by a fisherman who saw a person floating face down. Jarnagin says Bible had fallen out of a boat at the dock.

The sheriff’s department says a citizen helped a deputy pull Bible’s body from the water. Bible was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Authorities say there was no evidence of foul play.
