A woman told Johnson City police a man beat and choked her into unconsciousness Wednesday amid a domestic argument, resulting in his arrest.

James Davis, 25, 1400 Orleans St., was charged with aggravated domestic assault.

About 11:45 p.m., police were called to a domestic disturbance at 2610 Plymouth Road, where they met with the woman. In a news release, police said the woman reported that she and Davis had been arguing when he struck her with his fists.

After she tried fleeing to a bedroom, Clark tackled her to the floor and choked her until she blacked out, police said.

The woman had visible injuries, police said, but she refused treatment.

Davis was held at the Washington County Detention Center on $5,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Thursday.
