ROGERSVILLE — A Hawkins County man was charged with misdemeanor harassment Saturday after he allegedly texted his wife a false message stating he had killed their 11-year-old son and attached a photo of the boy sleeping.

Deputies said alcohol was a factor.

Around 6:45 p.m., Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Scott Alley responded to the residence of Patrick and Amy Wilder on Flora Ferry Road near Rogersville after Mrs. Wilder, who was staying with relatives, reported the disturbing text message to Hawkins County Central Dispatch.

Deputies were also informed that Patrick Wilder had multiple firearms in his possession. More about the text message from our partners at the Kingsport Times News.
