Police: Johnson City man struck girlfriend with TV as she held toddler

A woman told Johnson City police Wednesday her boyfriend had assaulted her with a television as she held her toddler, resulting in his arrest Thursday.

Police charged Johnathan Cross, 34, 107 Tamassee Drive, with aggravated domestic assault, child endangerment and misdemeanor vandalism.

According to a news release, police went to Cross’ residence about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and learned Cross had been in a fight with his girlfriend while she was holding her 1-year-old child. She told police Cross had struck her head with a TV while she was holding the child.

He had knocked her to the ground and continued to assault her while she was trying to keep the child from getting hit, she told police.

Cross fled before police arrived, but Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies found him at another location several hours after the assault.

Cross was held at the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance set for Friday.
