2 charged after thefts from Johnson City car dealer

Two Gray men were arrested Thursday on charges related to vehicle thefts from a Johnson City auto dealer, and police were looking for public assistance on similar cases.

With help from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Johnson City police arrested the men following Tuesday’s thefts at Chaparral Pontiac Buick GMC, 3514 Bristol Hwy. Police said the men had drugs when they were arrested.

Steve Necessary, 42, was charged with two counts of theft over $10,000, possession of schedule II drugs (methamphetamine), possession of schedule III drugs (suboxone) and two counts of possession of schedule IV drugs (clonazepam and alprazolam).

Corey Jones, 27, was charged with possession of stolen property over $10,000, possession of schedule VI drugs (marijuana) and two counts of possession of schedule IV drugs (clonazepam and alprazolam).

Both were held at the Washington County Detention Center with Sessions Court appearances set for Friday. Necessary’s bond was $24,000, and Jones’ bond was $13,000.
