UPDATE: THP identifies woman killed in Kingsport Highway crash

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified a woman killed in a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon on the Kingsport Highway as a 32-year-old Telford woman.

Nichole Marie Johnson was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by 29-year-old Billy Hale, Jonesborough, around 5:30 p.m. Monday when they ran into a pickup truck’s trailer near Orchard Street on Tenn. Highway 36 in the Oak Grove area north of Boones Creek, according to the THP’s accident report.

Johnson was killed, and Hale was taken to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

The pickup was driven by Zachary T. Marshall, 25, Johnson City, who was turning left from the highway onto Orchard. Marshall and his female passenger were not injured, according to the THP.

The report stated charges were pending against both Hale and Marshall.

Troopers were awaiting a medical examiner’s report Tuesday before releasing the name of a woman killed in a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon on the Kingsport Highway.

The fatal collision between the motorcycle and a pickup happened around 5:30 p.m. Monday on Tennessee Highway 36 near Orchard Street in the Oak Grove area north of Boones Creek. The female passenger on the motorcycle was killed, according to a statement from Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Nathan Hall.

“We are still waiting the medical examiner to positively ID the female before we can release the fatality report,” Hall wrote.
