Police arrested a Johnson City man Monday after a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a front of a motel.

John Woodward, 23, 1000 Whittling Wood Drive, was arrested on charges of identity theft, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a brief from the JCPD.

In a search of his vehicle in front of the Red Roof Inn, 210 Broyles Drive, officers said Woodward possessed a firearm and drug paraphernalia. When asked for his identification, officers said Woodward gave them his friend’s driver’s license. After determining his real identity, police added identity theft to Woodward’s list of charges and discovered he was wanted on warrants in Washington County.

Woodward was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he held on $6,000 bond. His arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday in Sessions Court.
