UPDATE: Man killed in Kingsport shooting, murder investigation underway

According to a Friday afternoon press release from Kingsport police: On April 19, 2018 at approximately 8:45 PM, Kingsport Police Patrol Officers responded to 524 Stapleton Drive in Kingsport regarding a shooting incident. They found a 56-year-old white male adult victim, recently deceased from what appeared to be gunshot wounds, inside the residence.

The K.P.D. Criminal Investigations Division was called to the scene. Detectives are actively investigating this shooting incident as a homicide and are currently in the process of following up on several leads. The person responsible is still unidentified and currently remains at large.

KINGSPORT — Police were in the early stages of investigating a Thursday night shooting at a city residence.

The shooting occurred about 8:45 p.m. at 524 Stapleton Drive near the Tennessee-Virginia state line. After the arrival of patrol officers, detectives with the Kingsport Police Department were called to the scene.

As of Friday morning, the KPD had not released any information regarding victims, the extent of injuries and any suspects in the case. Additional information was expected to be released later today.
