Habitual motor offender charged after crash in downtown Johnson City

A downtown Johnson City crash led police to arrest a Limestone man Monday.

About 11:10 a.m., police investigated a crash at the intersection of West Unaka and Jackson avenues.

Police said Frank R. Gillespie, 60, 125 Jay Props Road, Limestone, was at fault because he pulled out in front of the other vehicle from a stop sign. A records check revealed Gillespie’s license had been revoked as he was classified as a habitual motor offender.

Gillespie was charged with failure to yield and and a habitual motor offender violation.

He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $2,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance Tuesday.
