Man arrested for making change from fake $100 bill, police said

A Johnson City man who made change from a fake $100 bill didn’t get far before police arrested him, according to the police department.

A press release said that on Thursday, Justin Smith, 36, 433 Old Stage Road, went into the Roadrunner Market at 3894 Bristol Highway and exchanged a $100 for five $20 bills. Store employees notified officers, who confronted Smith as he was leaving the store, the release said. He was arrested and charged with criminal simulation. 

He is being held at the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond, He was arraigned Friday afternoon in  Sessions Court.
