An investigation into a wreck on private property ended in multiple charges being placed against a Jonesborough man on Friday.

According to a release from the Johnson City Police Department, Michael Boyles was attempting to report that a vehicle hit his own, but left before police arrived. After investigating, police said they concluded Broyles drove his own vehicle into a tree, then drove it to the Cherry Street parking lot where he met police.

Broyles admitted attempting to lie to police officer, the news release said.

Police also said Broyles was on Oxycodone pills at the time and was impaired. When officers searched him, they discovered he had a handgun, the release said.

Broyles was charged with false reporting, leaving the scene of an accident, public intoxication and posession of a firearm while under the influence. He was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he was being held on $7,500 bond. His arraignment is set for Monday in Sessions Court.
