KINGSPORT — A two-vehicle collision Thursday sent two women to a local hospital, where one was in critical condition.

The Kingsport Police Department reports that at approximately 5:15 p.m., patrol officers responded to a serious crash in the 100 block of West Stone Drive. Due to the seriousness of the injuries sustained by one of the drivers, the KPD Traffic Unit was called to the scene to investigate.

Police determined that a 2018 Toyota Camry, driven by Michelle A. Miller, 31, Kingsport, was eastbound on the highway. Meanwhile, a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Rebecca A. Shelton, 56, Jonesborough, was exiting the parking lot of Holston Medical Group, located at 105 W. Stone Drive.

Investigators say that Shelton failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic and pulled into the path of the Toyota, which struck the Chevrolet directly in the driver’s side. More about the crash from our partners at the Kingsport Times News.
