A Johnson City man was arrested Tuesday after a fraud investigation, Johnson City police said in a news release.

On Oct. 24, police responded to Southern Finance, 1613 W. Market St., where the manager said Robert B. Rigsby, 26, 2516 Clover St., obtained a title loan on March 21 for more than $1,000 using his vehicle to secure the loan. After he made one payment on the loan, police said, Southern Finance was unable to contact Rigsby and collect additional payments.

It was later discovered Rigsby had his vehicle crushed, making it worthless to Southern Finance and unavailable to be collected as their security interest on the loan.

After locating Rigsby on Tuesday during an unrelated incident, police discovered warrants had been issued for his arrest. He was held in the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond. Rigsby was set to appear in Sessions Court on Wednesday.
