Police: Officers find meth during traffic stop

A woman carrying meth in her backpack was arrested during a traffic stop, Johnson City police said in a news release. 

The release said Stephanie Gillespie, 26, 1915 E. Myrtle Ave., was riding as a passenger in a vehicle that officers stopped for a traffic violation. During the stop, officers reportedly found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in Gillespie’s backpack. 

Officers arrested her on charges of possession of schedule II narcotics for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where she was held on $11,000 bond. She was arraigned Thursday afternoon in Sessions Court.
