Johnson City police arrested a man early Sunday who was wanted in Virginia, but only after he tried to elude officers.

Brian Stout, 44, 810 Magnolia Ext. Apt. 15, was arrested about 12:50 a.m. after officers responded to a possible assault call involving Stout, according to a release from the Johnson City Police Department.

While officers were talking with Stout, they discovered he was wanted on a warrant for violation of court order in Lee County, Virginia. As Stout was about to be handcuffed, he ran inside his apartment and locked the door. Officers had to force their way into his apartment and bedroom, while Stout attempted to hold the door shut. When officers made it into Stout’s bedroom, he surrendered to police.

Stout was taken to the Washington County Detention Center and held without bond. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday in Washington County Sessions Court.
